Note: I cross-posted this question on Ask Different to (hopefully) get more answers. I will need the phone in less than a week, so any help would be greatly appreciated. ![]() I did get the solid low battery symbol to appear once, but unfortunately, I unplugged it because I wanted to use a wall charger. The symbol reappears for a few seconds whenever the phone is disconnected, so I know the phone detects that it's plugged in. Be sure the driver is well-seated when removing Pentalobe. Remove the two 3.6 mm Pentalobe P2 screws next to the dock connector. Power off your iPhone before beginning disassembly. A charged lithium-ion battery can catch fire and/or explode if accidentally punctured. Remove the two 3.6 mm P2 Pentalobe screws next to the Lightning connector. Before you begin, discharge your iPhone battery below 25. iTunes did not detect the phone on the MacBook Pro. Your lightning connector is broken and now your iPhone 5S will not charge. Before disassembling your iPhone, discharge the battery below 25. I've tried a couple different cables and chargers (I tried a Linux computer, a MacBook Pro, a wall adapter, and three different cables), and they all do the same thing. The cable fits snugly, and the pins on the inside of the port are clean. I did blow into the lightning port to clean it out. When I plugged it in, all it did was flash the low battery symbol with the lightning bolt and lightning cable ( not the solid low battery symbol). Replace a damaged or missing black elastic gasket that fits over the microphone on the lightning connector assembly and fixes the microphone to the rear case in an iPhone 5s. Your repairs are in good hands We accept returns within 30 days of receipt. I let it sit until today, when I tried to charge it. Same day shipping if ordered by 1PM Pacific. I thought it was a bad cable.Ī couple of days ago, I let the phone discharge and turn off to calibrate the battery. I have had charging problems with it recently - I needed to wiggle the cable to get it to charge. The battery is original and has never been replaced. I'm guessing - some circuit in the phone which detects the USB connector has blown and hence its only charging with the direct charger that doesn't have a USB connection.I have an iPhone 5s, purchased in ~2013. The lightning connector is directly connected to the charger - The phone immediately started charging.Ĭan someone with the electronic knowledge of how the iPhone charging port functions, comment on what the problem/issue with the phone is ? This charger does not have a separate USB cable & separate charger. Next, used a third-party charger (5V -6V 2A). After the parts were changed, Used these two cables with a portable charger, having two different ports (5V 1 A) & (5V 2.1 A). Used the same chargers (5V 1 A) - Did not workĥ. Went to a local repair shop, and replaced the iPhone Lighting port/Speaker/Audio Port. Used the old third-party cable & the new third-party cable, tried to charge it via the USB port on my laptop - Did not workĤ. Used it with the same original wall charger (5V 1 A) - Did not workģ. Changed the USB-Lightning cable with another third-party cable (as I do not have the original cable). Went to Apple Store - they asked me to get a replacement for a price that's more than what I would have spent in the market to buy a new one.Ģ. Note : Been using a third-party USB-Lightning Port with the Original Wall Charger (for over 8 months).ġ. The battery went dead, and would the phone would not turn after every step of troubleshooting I tried. Problem : Charging port gradually stopped working over a period of 10 days, and then would not charge at all.
